\b0 There are several different types of farm in Normandy, some made up of scattered buildi
ngs and others grouped around a central courtyard. They can be built out of granite (in the Avranchin), or cob in the marshy regions. But what characterizes the traditional Norman farm is the use of \i ôhalf-timbering,ö\i0 an assemblage of wooden beams
that is visible on the outside walls and whose gaps are filled with a mixture of clay and chopped hay, very often replaced by bricks today.\par
